New Beetel GD470
Full touch screen dual SIM phones have great demand in India. When affordable and expensive all-in-one Android smartphones rule the Indian Market, ordinary handsets seem to be only the last option. But although ordinary handsets face a big drop in their demands, Dual SIM mobile handsets are still desired by a lot of people. So obviously, it wasn't a bad idea for Beetel to come up with their new Dual SIM handset and to attract people further, they developed the phone with touchscreens. Named as the Beetel GD470, it is a pretty good looking bar phone.
The Beetel GD470 features a TFT capacitive touchscreen display of 2.8 inches. The screen has a maximum resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.
This bar model handset's dimensional measurements of 99x56x13.5 mm categorizes it as a big phone among averagely priced mobile phones. It's lightweight weighing about 93 grams. Apparently it supports 2 GSM SIMs of 900 / 1800 MHz frequencies. The GD470 doesn't come with a big camera, but its 1.3 Megapixel camera is more than meets the eye. The camera supporting a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels for the images captured offers surprising quality to the pictures in jpeg format and also features the digital zoom feature.
Not just image captures, the video recording is quite awesome too. The GD470 records videos at 25 frames per second. The media player is cool and supports audio formats like Mp3, amr, aac, MIDI and wma. Video formats like Mp4, 3Gp, AVI etc can be played in the GD470 video player. The loudspeaker of the Beetel GD470 offers good audibility but if you listen carefully, you might be able to notice that the amplification has somewhat affected the audio quality just a bit.
The well designed WAP browser allows smooth browsing using GPRS connectivity. It doesn't support EDGE and WiFi connectivity which is supposedly its biggest drawback. EDGE connectivity support would have been nice. The Beetel GD470 is equipped with a card slot which supports only micro SD/T Flash cards. It allows memory extensibility of course for up to 8 GB. It has USB port obviously and a good v2.0 Bluetooth feature. The phone equips a lot of applications including a few social networking apps as well. A 1000 mAh Li ion battery charges the handset but not quite enough as the charge will last only for a talktime of 3.5 hours and offers about 200 hours of standby time. The phone is not very durable either.
The Beetel GD470 is very affordable and has price in India around Rs 2,800/-.
